The Cheltenham Literature Festival has announced a stellar programme of guests for their 70th anniversary event this October.

Just some of the stars who will be appearing include former prime minister David Cameron, former England cricket captain Alastair Cook, and BBC documentary maker Louis Theroux.

First held in 1949, the event is the world’s oldest literature festival, and this year will have guests and speakers covering a range of topics from current affairs to food, history to fashion, sport to art, science to travel and much more.

And as part of the ‘Seven at Seventy’ celebrations, the festival will be welcoming guest curators Max Porter, Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinené, Dominic Sandbrook, Tessa Hadley, Anthony Anaxagorou, Leslie Vinjamuri and Robin Stevens.

Other famous faces on offer include former Welsh rugby captain Sam Warburton, actress Helena Bonham Carter, comedians Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer and historian Tom Holland.

Alongside the talks there will be a number of workshops and events for families to get involved in, including a Secret Seven Mystery Trail, and for grown ups, the Lit Crawl returns to take over the streets, pubs and bars of Cheltenham.

This year will also feature TV coverage of the festival on Sky Arts, with attendees even able to get involved with the filming.

The Cheltenham Literature Festival runs from Friday 4th to Sunday 13th October.
