There is lots to be excited about music-wise in the next month or so with new albums from legends of the music industry as well as debut releases from young up and coming musicians.

Here are a few to look out for.

1. Liam Gallagher - Why Me Why Not?

Perhaps the most hotly anticipated album release of September is Liam Gallagher’s follow up album ‘Why Me Why Not?

Following the release of his hugely successful first solo album ‘As You Were’ in October 2017, Liam is working on his second album which is due to be released on Friday 20th September.

He has already released a few songs from his new album, including ‘Shockwave’ and ‘Once’, and will be hoping that this album will have the same impact as his first one, which reached number one in the UK album charts.

2. Status Quo - Backbone

Status Quo are back with, unbelievably, their 33rd studio album called ‘Backbone’.

The album is their first since 2016 and therefore their first without the late, great Rick Parfitt, who died in December 2016.

The band are due to release the much - awaited album on Friday 6th September, before they perform at BBC Radio 2’s ‘Festival in a Day’ show in Hyde Park on Sunday 15th September.

3. The Night Café - 0151

Indie pop band The Night Café have announced that they will release their debut album on Friday 23rd August.

Despite having many singles and EPs, as well as doing two tours, the band have never released an album.

The album is titled 0151 which is the calling code for Liverpool, where the band are from.

The group have recently revealed a new single called ‘Finders Keepers’ and are due to perform at Reading and Leeds festival on August Bank Holiday weekend.

4. Taylor Swift – Lover

Pop artist Taylor Swift is also back with a new album, her seventh so far.

The singer, whose hits include ‘22’ and ‘Shake It Off’, has revealed that her new album will be released on Friday 23rd August and will include the three new singles that she has recently dropped, ‘Me!’, ‘You Need To Calm Down’ and ‘The Archer’.

She isn’t however touring her new album – she’s probably still recovering from her marathon tour last year which included 53 concerts across 7 countries.

5. Keane - Cause And Effect

Keane are back and are due to release their 5th studio album on Friday 20th September.

The lead single of this album will be ‘The Way I Feel’ which was released in June and marked their comeback after 6 years without new music.

The band will also be taking their new music on tour, with 10 UK dates planned for September and the early part of October.

6. Foals – Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part II

Indie band Foals are releasing their second album of the year in October.

‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part I’ was released in March and songs such as ‘Exits’ and ‘Sunday’ proved such a hit with fans that the band, whose lead singer is Yannis Phillippakis, decided to release part two just 6 months later.

The lead single on this album is expected to be ‘Black Bull’ which was released earlier this month.

7. Red Hot Riot – TBC

Fresh from their set at Glastonbury, local rockabilly band Red Hot Riot are to announce their debut EP.

The three-piece band consists of lead singer and guitarist Ricky Delaney, doghouse bass player Scott Mcparland and drummer Kane Radnor.

All three originate from the Forest of Dean.

They also recently performed at Lakefest and are to release their EP on Saturday 31st August, a week after performing at The Gloucester Classic and Retro Festival.
