Celebrate Spring

Most of us long for the warmer spring weather and look forward to perhaps giving our wardrobes a spring clean. To freshen up your spring look, here are a few items that will update your wardrobe.

Raincoats
All types of trench coats will be filling the shops, with a superb choice of vibrant colours. Gone is the standard beige raincoat. With styles from short toppers to full length designs, many well below the knee, there is certainly something for everyone and in every price range. Many coats come in fabrics that can be machine washed, which saves on dry cleaning – check the label and take this into account, especially if you are wearing it regularly.

Cardi/Coats
Longer type cardigans which can double as a light spring coat are proving popular, and frankly never date too much. They are very flattering and can be dressed up or down – they’re not just for daytime wear.

Cold Shoulder
Not the sort you give someone, but the cut out variety. This style slipped in quietly but is going down a storm, as women like to have the option to cover certain areas of their arms they feel less confident about. Many of us like to show our shoulders, and this style does just that. It is also being seen for next season as well in fabrics from wool to floaty summer materials, so a good investment fashion-wise.

Many dresses are following suit, so if you prefer a dress you will be spoilt for choice. One shoulder dresses from daytime to night-time are featuring on all the catwalks – it seems the shoulder is the body part to accentuate if you want to be bang on trend!

Sleeves Glorious Sleeves
If the cold shoulder is not for you there is an enormous choice of sleeved garments appearing in the spring/summer collections. Many are very feminine with ruffle features – some just above the elbow, others all the way from shoulder to cuff. Bell sleeves and fancy cuffs are all very feminine.

Belted Waist
Belts are back big time. You can update any item with a nipped in waistline, so invest in a belt that will work with more than just one piece. Belts are available in all colours and sizes, and glitzy buckles can jazz up the plainest ensemble and are very eye catching.

A belt can give you the appearance of a waist even if you do not have much of one. If you have gone for a new cardi/coat mentioned earlier, you might consider buying a size you can add a belt with, which would give you the advantage of two different looks.

Knapsacks
Their popularity keeps growing for both men and women, from expensive leather designer options to washable fabrics – which of course don’t mind being caught in the rain. You will see knapsacks used as a fashion statement, so with the right one you will look great from the back too!
