You know the saying ‘go hard or go home’? Well, ‘button up and be bold’ and you won’t go back. One of this season’s big trends is block colouring and popping prints, so get ready to stand out, for the right reasons.

If corresponding colours aren’t your thing and you have mixed feelings – and prints – about this spring trend, inject inspiration into your wardrobe in subtle, stylish ways. These power-print pieces have the long game in view, with primary shades through to novelty neon’s making their designer debut at SS18 shows.

Bold brights will be parading the pavements
When showcasing next season’s designs, it seems designers fully committed to bringing these bold brights to life. Expect to see vibrant pinks, reds, yellows and blues parading the pavements this spring/summer. Whether this be by colour blocking or toned down into a more neutral ensemble, why not work the two? Laura Bailey (right) is paisley perfection in just such a combo of attention-grabbing print styled with another timeless trend that is the check.

If clashing prints aren’t for you, Mistamina's Rupert Shirt in Royal Blue (below) commands attention without the print or price tag. At £80, this loose-fitting suede shirt comes in two colour-ways and is lightweight enough to wear through the chillier days of spring into the warmer welcome of summer. The brand’s founder, Lady Melissa Percy, created the power-to-the-active-and-outdoors-girl – see how they worked ‘stamina’ into the brand name? – and is one of those finds which was born to bridge the gap in the market for affordable, but most importantly, feminine clothing for the girl with an active lifestyle.

Pretty, delicate but no less loud prints
On the other end of the spectrum are the kind of pretty, delicate but no less loud prints, in more of a ladies-who-lunch way. Prints and patterns that would have once been worn in the 40s and 50s are back with a vengeance. Florals are at the forefront of this time traveller trend and are never short of a sure-fire seller for retailers.

One Cotswolds retailer in particular who knows this all too well has been ahead of the curve with these prints for quite some time. The Oxford Shirt Company have collaborated with Liberty of London, a brand renowned for their archive of unique prints, to create a truly unique collection of shirts. At £89.95 the Bryne Liberty Shirt (below) is a new addition to this ever-expanding collection, created on the perfect canvas of Tana Lawn fabric, giving you premium cotton and high quality at an affordable price.

Classic yet contemporary prints and palettes
It’s no great wonder why style savvy brands are looking to how they can reimagine these classic yet contemporary prints and palettes within their individual aesthetics. So, stop shirting around and pick your perfect print on a colour popping palette in time for spring!
