Overbury Bowling Club are certainly piling up the wins this season.

The team of Stuart Yapp, Mike Mace, Dan Mason and Neil Williams are through to the second round in the men’s WBA County Fours (Rinks) after a 27-20 home victory over Hewell.

Captain Williams said: “After a slow start, we scored a 7 and then immediately followed it up with a 5 to have a comfortable lead at the halfway point.

“Hewell had clearly not read the script though, and staged a comeback by gaining a 4 and a 3 on consecutive ends to ensure the game was close until the last few ends.”

There was more success for the club in the ladies’ WBA County Double Rink as they enjoyed a thumping win over Evesham.

Evesham conceded after 12 ends when Pam Jones, Yvonne Cole, Jean King and Jan Newton led 21-2, and Gillian Pearce, Barbara Baldwin, Sally Lewis and Daphne Hayward led 25-5.

In a rain interrupted match, Sue Robinson, Sally Lewis, Gillian Pearce and Daphne Hayward overcame Bredon 19-6 in the ladies’ WBA County Rinks with Bredon conceding after 19 ends.

Not to be outdone, Mike Mace, Dan Mason and Neil Williams were too good for Broadway in the men’s WBA County Triples, winning 20-3 after Broadway conceded after 14 ends.

In the ladies’ WBA County Triples, Sandy Mace, Daphne Hayward and Gillian Pearce braved damp and blustery conditions to score a good 19-11 win against Manor Park.

The club also enjoyed their fifth successive win in the men’s SWT Triples League, beating Evesham A 46-31 to leave them joint top of the table. Stuart Yapp, Overbury's captain, said: “This was an excellent win against Evesham A on their green. We are now nine points ahead of this time last year.”

The seniors are also on a roll and battled back to beat Tewkesbury 93-80 after trailing at halfway.

They suffered defeats against Churchdown and Cheltenham Spa before returning to winning ways with a 93-64 win against Littleton.

After having trouble to field a full team at the beginning of the season and suffering associated penalties, Overbury have found their form in the men’s Concorde League, winning 91-89 against Hewell and 83-78 against Littleton.

In the ladies’ Concorde League, Overbury recorded a notable win against Littleton.
