Three goals in the last 15 minutes earned Dowty Dynamos a 3-0 victory over Tewkesbury Town in the Cheltenham Football League Senior Charities Cup final.

It completes an excellent double for the club because they also finished second behind Andoversford in Division Two – three places and 19 points ahead of Tewkesbury – which means they will be playing in the top flight next season.

Dowty had the better of the opening exchanges and both Josh Ellin and Tom Jefferies had chances to put them ahead.

At the other end Nathan Smith went close for Tewkesbury, who began the second half in brighter fashion.

Matt Tarling and Keiron Dyson both threatened to break the deadlock, but it was Dowty who finally got their noses in front when Jefferies scored.

Five minutes later they doubled their advantage when Andrew Cross converted a penalty and Sam Gorry put the gloss on an excellent night for the club at the home of Cheltenham Town Football Club with a fine individual goal in the final minute.

There are two more Cheltenham League cup finals at Kayte Lane in Bishop’s Cleeve tomorrow.

The Minor Cup final is being contested by Cheltenham Civil Service 4ths and St Pauls United and starts at 2pm, while the Junior Cup final is between Bredon reserves and FC Barometrics. That game starts at 4.15pm.
