It’s advantage Forest Green Rovers after last night’s National League play-off semi-final first leg at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Mark Cooper’s side earned a 1-1 draw and their supporters will head to the second leg at the New Lawn on Sunday (3pm) confident that they can make it to Wembley for a second season in a row.

A crowd of more than 3,000 is expected to cram into the ground in Nailsworth - tickets will be on sale right up until kick-off although it is recommended that fans buy in advance.

More than 2,000 tickets had been sold within a week of them going on sale and press officer Richard Joyce said: “The backing in last season’s semi-final against Dover made all the difference in getting the team to Wembley, so a big support on Sunday could do the same.”

A penalty by Liam Noble gave Forest Green a 29th-minute advantage at Dagenham last night but the home side pulled level on the stroke of half time through Jordan Maguire-Drew.

Away goals don’t count double in the National League play-offs so if the game is 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes on Sunday there will be 30 minutes of extra time.

If the teams are still level there will be a penalty shootout.

Whoever comes out on top at the New Lawn will almost certainly face Tranmere Rovers in the final on Sunday, May 14th (3pm) after they won the first leg at Aldershot Town 3-0 on Wednesday.

Forest Green were beaten 3-1 by Grimsby Town in last season’s play-off final at Wembley.
