Seàn Long agrees new contract extension at Cheltenham Town
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 30th September 2019, 12:00
Seàn Long has extended his stay at Cheltenham Town until June 2021 after agreeing a new one-year contract.
The 24-year-old has been a regular in the current campaign at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium and has been rewarded with a new 12-month contract extension.
A summer of 2018 signing from Lincoln City, Long endured a frustrating first campaign at the club, with injury limiting him to only six first team appearances.
However, he has been one of the side's most consistent performers this term in his role as a right wing back and he has now committed his future to another two seasons with the Robins.
Long said: “I'm delighted. I love it here. I love playing football and the manager has been great, the staff, and there's a great bunch of lads here as well.
“I had last year to come back from the injury and they gave me the opportunity to play which was brilliant. To come back in pre-season and for the manager to be selecting me every week is another great feeling - I just want to keep it going now.
Manager Michael Duff added: “Seàn is a good pro. You look at the character he showed last year with his injury and the way he got his head down and was always good around the place and was raring to get back playing.
“He's almost been a new signing this season and his performances on the pitch have warranted him getting a new deal.”
Long scored his first goal for the club in the 4-2 win over Stevenage at the start of September.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
