Walking barefoot over red-hot embers may be the ultimate challenge to face and it’s one that will leave you feeling incredible while helping change young people’s lives.

And with red-hot embers that are heated to 1,236 degrees Fahrenheit under your bare feet, Gloucestershire charity National Star says conquering the coals will leave everyone feeling ready to take on the world.

The charity is hoping to get 50 fearless fundraisers to take on the challenge to mark its 50th year.

Sally Gillespie, area fundraiser, said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It begins with a motivational two-hour training session so all our firewalkers are prepared for the challenge both mentally and physically.

“After you’ve done that you’ll feel empowered and ready to cross 20 feet of wood embers that are burning at 1,236 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Taking on the firewalk makes you feel invincible and every step you take will change the lives of young people with complex disabilities.”

The charity has teamed up with firewalking experts Blaze to run the adrenalin-fuelled event which takes place from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Friday 9th February at National Star’s headquarters in Ullenwood, near Cheltenham.

There is a non-refundable registration fee of £20 and every firewalker is asked to raise a minimum of £80 in sponsorship.

The StarBistro at Ullenwood will be open so everyone will be able to have a celebratory drink and a bite to eat afterwards.
