Get your money on Jarveys Plate when the two-day International meeting gets under way at Cheltenham today.

Trained by Guiting Power’s Fergal O’Brien, the horse is backed by The Local Answer tipster Mike Edwards to land the spoils in the opening race of the day – the British Stallion Studs Ebf ‘national Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle at 12.10pm.

Owned by the Yes No Wait Sorries partnership which is run by Chris Coley, who lives in Cheltenham, Edwards said: “Looked impressive winning a bumper at Perth and followed up with a workmanlike third at Hereford. I expect him to improve on that form!”

Mike Edwards’ other top tips today

12.45pm – Lil Rockerfeller. “Very smart hurdler and course winner, won well recently at Exeter.”

1.20pm – Highest Sun. “Recent 125,000 euro purchase from France, ran a good debut race recently at Ascot, will improve.”

1.55pm – Synopsis. “Flat and hurdles winner, although disappointing recently over hurdles in Ireland. Back over fences and with Richard Johnson on board, could be a betting coup!”

2.30pm – Singlefarmpayment. “Close 2nd in course and distance handicap here last year, has been an unlucky horse. This may be his day.”

3.05pm – Josies Order (NAP SELECTION). “Enda Bolger’s four times course and distance winner, I cannot oppose.”

3.40pm – Great Trango. “Irish Raider, Flat winner in August and smart 2nd at listowel in September.”

Saturday’s big race top tips

12.10pm JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial – Paul Nicholls’ Quel Destin.

1.55pm Crispin Caviar Gold Cup – Paul Nicholls-trained Frodon.
