Gloucester have announced that they have extended the contracts of two key members of their coaching staff – Tim Taylor and Rory Teague.

Taylor, who has been a member of the coaching team for six seasons, joined the Cherry and Whites as a player from Nottingham in the spring of 2010, and went on to make 41 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 171 points.

He retired in 2014 and took on a role as Gloucester kicking and skills coach before becoming Academy backs and kicking coach and then backs coach for the first team.

Teague started his playing career at Kingsholm, before joining Bristol and then playing in France. He started his coaching career at Harrow School, and has gone on to work with Saracens and Wasps, England U20s and the England senior squad where he was recruited by Eddie Jones, followed by a spell as the head coach at Bordeaux-Begles. He joined Gloucester as skills coach ahead of this season.

Commenting on the renewal of their respective contracts, Taylor said: “I’m thrilled. I’ve been at Gloucester Rugby for some time now, as a player and coach, and have come to love the place. We’ve a great squad, the future looks bright and I look forward to continue working hard to support the team in reaching our goals.”

And Teague added: “Things have gone brilliantly since I arrived. We have a terrific set of coaches here, and I really enjoy working with this set of players who have been so receptive to what I’ve tried to introduce. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve going forward.”

Gloucester head coach Johan Ackermann said: “Both Tim and Rory are intrinsic members of the Gloucester Rugby team and their extensive skills in coaching and the strong relationships they have with the players are immense. Both remain key in reaching our goals for success on the pitch and the strength of their experience is second to none.

“I am delighted they have both committed to extend their contracts at the club.”

Meanwhile former Gloucester star and ex-Sir Thomas Rich’s School pupil Sam Underhill has signed a three-year extension to his contract with Bath.
