Gloucester have added to their front row resources with the signing of tighthead prop Jack Stanley from Edinburgh Rugby with immediate effect.

Stanley is a former England under-20s cap who was previously a member of the Exeter Chiefs Academy, before moving on to Edinburgh ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The 23-year-old arrived in Gloucester this week and joined his new team-mates for training yesterday.

Director of rugby David Humphreys said that he’s happy to have an extra option in the front row going forward.

"It’s been well documented that we’ve had some injuries in the front row this season, especially at tight head, with Ruan Dreyer and Jamal Ford-Robinson both ruled out at times,” he said.

"As a young English tighthead, Jack will give us some strength in depth at prop for the rest of this season but more importantly, for the long-term future.

"He’s still a very young player who has worked with Peter Walton in the past, and we’re all looking forward to seeing Jack fulfil his potential at Gloucester Rugby."

Meanwhile, Gloucester youngster Aaron Hinckley Is one of 10 players in the running to land the Premiership Rugby Cup Breakthrough Player Award.

Launched in 2012, the Breakthrough Player Award celebrates and recognises under-23 players who have stood out in the tournament, with previous winners including the likes of Jack Nowell and ex-Gloucester star Jonny May.

Hinckley has been nominated for his performance in round one against London Irish with the following supporting paragraph.

“Gloucester Rugby may have been on the wrong end of the scoreline against London Irish, however 20-year-old Aaron Hinkley put in a performance to be proud of, crossing the try-line to cap off a fine 80 minutes. His tally of 80 metres gained was the second most of any forward in round one, while he also hit double figures for tackles too. The Gloucester flanker also proved a good lineout option, making three catches for his side, showing his all-round ability.”
