Tom Elliott is a unique comedian, in that if he manages to make his audience disappear, the night would probably go down as a success.

That’s because Tom combines his comedy with magic, and although making people vanish is a slight exaggeration, it’s safe to say his shows contain plenty of wonder as well as laughs.

“I blend the two elements in together, the comedy comes through with the magic and audience participation,” explained Tom, who lives in Stroud.

“I’ve been doing this full-time for three years. I started when I was 14 years old – when I was at school a mate of mine did magic and we used to perform at kids’ birthday parties.”

Tom no longer performs at parties but rather travels the country performing at an array of venues including theatres, clubs and churches.

He is currently on tour with his ‘Oh My Days’ show, which he will be bringing to Cirencester’s Sundial Theatre in May.

“The show is called ‘Oh My Days’ – as in the expression of shock after you see a great magic trick!” continued Tom.

“It’s a really fun, clean show, and the subtle theme is about enjoying the little things. I talk about things like holidays and marriage, and get the audience involved, make wedding rings disappear and things like that.”

Tom is touring the show practically non-stop throughout the spring and summer months, in preparation for what is set to be one of the highlights of his year.

He will be heading up to Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – bar any impending Coronavirus-enforced cancellation – thanks to a Kickstarter campaign.

“I crowdfunded to help with things like marketing myself,” explained Tom.

“When you crowdfund you can feel a bit vulnerable, but it was amazing – I raised £4,000 in less than 30 days.

“I’m super excited, it’s the world’s largest arts festivals. I’ve never been there, as a performer or a punter.

“It’s my first time and I’m going to go headfirst and give it my best shot.”
