Popular Cheltenham-based band ‘Snog the Dog’ have announced a hometown gig on 25th August when they will be giving their fans a first opportunity to hear tracks off their brand-new album.

The three-piece band have developed a large fanbase across Gloucestershire since getting together back in 2004. Rich Howie (Guitar and vocals), Nick Harman (drums) and Andee Paddock (Bass guitar) have spent the summer writing and recording their new album, which will get an exclusive airing at 2 Pigs in Cheltenham on the evening of 25th August.“We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with our new album, the songs mean a lot to us, the lyrics are powerful and cover important subjects,” said Rich Howie.

“We’ll be playing the new album in its entirety and we’ll be supported by a few great local bands including ‘Solid Gone’ and ‘Second Self’. It’s going to be an amazing night, we’ve played at the 2 Pigs many times before, it’s one of our favourite places to play. This is the first album that we’ve co-written. We all worked really hard to write meaningful songs, we hope people like it,” he added.

The band have been busy all summer working on their new album and there was also an exciting day out in the Forest of Dean that the band enjoyed. Rich continued: “A few weeks back we shot a video for one of our new tracks. It was during the heatwave, so it was quite a struggle! The video comes out on Friday 17th August, we’re looking forward to seeing what people think.”

The band have been together for 14 years and in that time they’ve managed to play at many of the leading music venues in Gloucestershire. Rich continued: “We’ve been going since 2004. We played plenty of gigs in the early years and built up a bit of a following. In 2013 we released our debut album and since then we’ve been playing as many gigs as possible.

"Most of our performances have been here in Gloucestershire but we’ve also played at venues in Bristol and other cities. Our main aim is to increase our national profile which means playing in Birmingham and other large cities. Without sounding big-headed we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, and we want to really push on in the coming years. It would be great to get the opportunity to play more festivals and venues across the country.”

Having played hundreds of gigs over a fourteen-year period, Rich says it’s hard to name a favourite one and insists every opportunity the band get to play is an event to be savoured. He added: “Every single performance is memorable really, I certainly don’t have a favourite one. Every time we get on stage and see people interacting and enjoying our music is the best feeling. We love what we do, it would be great to think we could carry on going for another 14 years!”
