All Stars Cricket to return in 2018 – and it will be bigger and better than ever
Author: Contributed, Posted: Thursday, 1st March 2018, 11:40
All Stars Cricket is back for 2018 and parents can sign their kids up now.
More than 60 of the county’s clubs are running the ECB’s exciting entry level scheme for 5-8-year-olds this year – up from 42 last year.
To register your child, go to https://www.ecb.co.uk/play/all-stars and search for your nearest centre by entering your postcode.
Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) projects and programmes manager Chris Munden said: “All Stars proved a huge success in Gloucestershire last year, inspiring a whole new generation to play cricket for the first time.
“We have been inundated by clubs telling us how the programme has helped revamp their youth section and in some cases how it has been the catalyst for brand new junior sections.
“In 2018 the number of clubs offering the programme is up by 50 per cent, meaning more children will have the opportunity to enjoy a positive first taste of cricket in a welcoming, fun and inclusive environment.”
All Stars Cricket is the first ever ECB cricket initiative aimed at 5-8-year-olds. The programme includes eight weeks of coaching with the focus on having fun and making friends.
All girls and boys are welcome, and each registered child will receive a pack of cricket goodies including a cricket bat, ball, backpack, water bottle, personalised shirt and cap to keep, so that they can continue their love of cricket when they go home. Children who were involved in 2017 will receive different kit in year two including a set of stumps.
All Stars Cricket will provide your child with all of the fundamental skills they need to play cricket through, lively, fun games. The scheme also seeks to involve parents by inviting mums and dads to take part in the sessions and play cricket with their children.
