“I’d love us to go all the way to T20 finals day at Edgbaston.”

So said Gloucestershire wicketkeeper/batsman Gareth Roderick when he spoke to The Local Answer in April on the eve of the new season.

And the 26-year-old – he’ll be 27 on 29th August – has taken a big step closer to realising that ambition after Gloucestershire’s remarkable run of form in the group stages of this season’s competition.

Twelve games have produced eight wins and just two defeats – the other two matches were no results – and they have confirmed their place in the quarter-finals.

Tomorrow they host Sussex in Bristol in their final home game of the group stages before travelling to Hampshire on Friday for their final group game.

Gloucestershire’s supporters will be hoping that tomorrow’s game will not be their final home T20 clash of the season of course.

That’s because the top two teams in each of the groups – North and South – are guaranteed a home tie in the quarter-finals which get under way next week.

Gloucestershire are second behind Somerset and have a game in hand on the leaders who they trail by two points.

Third-placed Kent are two points adrift of Gloucestershire and like Michael Klinger’s side have two games remaining.

It’s certainly all to play for as Gloucestershire look ahead – hopefully – to finals day at Edgbaston on Saturday 15th September.
