A crowd of around 300 is expected at Chipping Campden Cricket Club on Monday for a game that their chairman Richard Postins says is one of the biggest in their history.

England Over-60s take on Australia in the Grey Ashes, the fourth game in a five-match series which has already seen the teams go head-to-head at Thame, Burton and Southport & Birkdale.

The final game is at Littlehampton on Sunday 30th July and Postins said: “It’s a great privilege to be hosting the game, we’re really looking forward to it.

“We’ve been watching the other games very closely, we’re hoping for a good turnout.”

And those fans who do turn up are sure to see some very good cricket. The England squad includes Gloucestershire cricketer Ed Gordon Lennox, an all-rounder who plays for Tarbarrow, near Cirencester, and Nasser Hussain’s brother Mel.

Matches are 50 overs-a-side and Postins continued: “The standard is very high.

“We’ve already hosted a trial game and the batting and bowling was very, very strong.”

The North Cotswold Brewery have produced a special beer to mark the occasion – appropriately enough called the Grey Ashes beer – and the game gets under way at 1pm.
