Kingsholm captain Luke Bond takes all 10 wickets in 'amazing bowling performance' against Westbury-on-Severn
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 15th June 2026, 10:10
Kingsholm new-ball bowler Luke Bond took all 10 wickets in a once-in-a-lifetime performance as Westbury-on-Severn were skittled for just 64.
The 23-year-old finished with figures of 9-0-34-10 as Kingsholm won by 168 runs in Division Two of the Gloucestershire League.
“It was surreal, completely surreal,” said head coach and wicketkeeper Ross Tominey. “It was an amazing bowling performance.”
Bond, who bowls right-arm quick seam, is in his first season as captain and Tominey continued: “He moves the ball back into batsmen, he kept hitting yorkers for fun.
“Seven out of his 10 wickets were bowled, it was insane.”
Another fell leg before as six of the home side's batsmen were dismissed without scoring.
“We think it’s the first time in Kingsholm’s history that anyone has taken all 10 wickets in an innings,” added Tominey.
“When he got his seventh, I think everyone started to believe it could happen. Everybody was hoping he would get all 10.”
Jack Beck was the only other bowler used by Kingsholm – he finished with 0-25 from eight overs – but Tominey said he played an important support role.
“He bowled really well,” he said. “He’s been injured for a couple of seasons and we missed him, he was really pleased for Luke.”
Bond, who has come through the junior set-up at Kingsholm, took 7-28 in a 79-run defeat at high-flying Dumbleton 2nds a couple of weeks ago and Tominey continued: “It’s funny because when we were driving over to that game we’d joked about him getting a 10-fer.
"He said if he did he’d have to jump into the pond that is next to their ground!”
Kingsholm stayed at Westbury for about an hour after Saturday's game before returning to their club where the 2nds were celebrating their first win of the season after beating Dymock by 104 runs in Division Four.
“They formed a guard of honour for Luke when we got back to the club, everyone was ecstatic for him," said Tominey.
Bond, a former Tommy Rich’s School pupil, was back in action the following day, but although visitors Frenchay 2nds were bowled out for 88 in the County Cup second-round tie, he picked up ‘only’ two wickets, finishing with 2-20 in his five overs.
He did, however, smash 78 from 48 balls in his side’s 278-5, hitting six fours and six sixes.
Meanwhile, Kingsholm’s win against Westbury was set up by Jack Ellis (96 not) and Matt Cayless (67 not), who put on 147. They came together when their side were 85-4.
