Shurdington Rovers and FC Lakeside set for cup semi-final clash at Bishop’s Cleeve

Cheltenham League Division Three pacesetters Malvern Vale will know their Minor Charity Cup final opponents this week.

Shurdington Rovers Reserves, who play in Division Two, and FC Lakeside Reserves, who are flying high in Division Four, meet in the semi-final at Kayte Lane, home of Bishop’s Cleeve, on Wednesday (kick-off 7pm).

The final of the competition will take place at Bishop’s Cleeve on Thursday 21st March (7pm).

The Junior Charity Cup final will take place a week later, also at Bishop’s Cleeve and also with a 7pm kick-off. That final is between Andoversford and Bishop’s Cleeve A. Those two clubs are second and third respectively behind Upton Town in Division One.

The two cup finals had originally been planned for the end of December. The league’s charity cup competition is sponsored by CEMAR.

Meanwhile, only three games were played in the Cheltenham League on Saturday because of the weather but they were important games nonetheless.

Bredon Reserves moved to the top of Division Two with a 3-1 win at home to Pittville United, while in Division Four, table-topping FC Lakeside Reserves won 10-0 at Tewkesbury Athletic.

Joseph Richards got half their goals to take his tally to 29 for the season.

In the remaining game, also in Division Four, Cheltenham Saracens won 2-0 at Malvern Vale Reserves.
