Forest Green Rovers and Bishop’s Cleeve go head-to-head in final of the GFA Senior Challenge Cup on big night of football
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 20th April 2026, 16:00
Football supporters will be out and about around the county tomorrow evening for what promises to be an exciting night of thrills and spills.
County cups are there to be won, league titles are up for grabs and the promotion play-offs are about to get into full swing.
Forest Green Rovers and Bishop’s Cleeve meet in the final of the GFA Senior Challenge Cup at the New Lawn (7.45pm), a trophy that was won last season by Bristol Manor Farm.
Both Forest Green and Bishop’s Cleeve will go into the game on the back of defeats.
Robbie Savage’s Forest Green side were beaten 2-1 at Hartlepool United on Saturday but have made it through to the National League play-offs.
Bishop’s Cleeve, meanwhile, retain a mathematical chance of finishing in the Southern League Division One South play-offs, but they need a huge turnaround to make it into the top five.
Meanwhile, Westbury United, who are fourth in the Premier Division of the North Gloucestershire League, take on Shortwood United Reserves in the final of the GFA Junior Cup North at Westbury tomorrow (7.45pm). Shortwood are just below midway in Division One of the Stroud League.
Cirencester Town travel to Droitwich Spa for a Hellenic League Premier Division play-off semi-final tomorrow (7.45pm) with the winners playing either Roman Glass St George or Worcester Raiders, who meet on Wednesday, in the final.
Stonehouse Town, meanwhile, travel to Bewdley Town for a Division One play-off semi-final tomorrow (7.45pm) with the winners playing either Wantage Town or Malmesbury Victoria, who meet 24 hours later, in the final.
County League champions-elect Sharpness can take another step closer to winning the title when they host their nearest rivals Filton Athletic tomorrow (6.30pm).
Sharpness, who won 2-1 at Filton at the start of the month, have opened up a 13-point lead. After tomorrow’s game Sharpness will have five games remaining and Filton six.
Longlevens Reserves will overhaul long-time Northern Senior League Division One leaders Whaddon United if they beat visitors Bibury tomorrow (6.30pm).
They will go a point clear of Whaddon, who they beat 2-0 last week, with two games to play. Whaddon have only one game remaining.
Old Richians will be crowned Stroud League Division One champions if they win at Chalford Reserves tomorrow (6.30pm).Copyright © 2026 The Local Answer Limited.
