Frampton United remain on the tails of County League leaders Lebeq United after a 2-0 home win over Wick.

Two goals by Manolo Marquez Espada did the trick with the first coming in the 12th minute when Joe Wilton’s cross into the box bounced awkwardly for the Wick defence and Espada was there to send the ball home.

They then hit the post and the crossbar before scoring a second on 68 minutes after Joss Beadle sent the ball out wide to Ryan Vincent and his perfect cross into the box was finished off by Espada.

The win still leaves Frampton eight points adrift of Lebeq, who defeated Hanham Athletic 5-1.

Meanwhile, the Les James Cup final will be contested by Little Stoke and AEK Boco after they defeated Stonehouse 2-1 and Gala Wilton 4-0 respectively.

Injury and suspension-hit Stonehouse were beaten by an 88th-minute goal by substitute Ethan Moore but even then they had a chance to get back on level terms because Luke Soule had an effort cleared off the line in the final minute of normal time.

Little Stoke had taken the lead on 20 minutes, when Keir Williams took a free-kick from the left edge of the home penalty area and beat goalkeeper Will Pedrick with a rising shot into the far top corner of his net.

The home side were level on 35 minutes when a great ball from Tom Palmer was collected by Chris Earle on the right and he placed his shot in the far corner of the visitors’ net.
