Stonehouse Town maintained the pressure on the two teams above them with a 4-1 County League win at Gala Wilton.

The defeat sent the home side to the bottom of the table although the game had begun promisingly for them against the third-placed club.

Gala looked the better side in the opening stages and took the lead on 10 minutes when a corner eventually found Jason Littleton who smashed his shot through a crowd of players into the back of the net.

Stonehouse’s Adam Philp then had two great chances to level the score, rounding goalkeeper Lewis Skyers before shooting wide and then seeing a shot saved by Skyers.

Three minutes before the break Stonehouse did manage to level however, when Alex Kibble’s 25-yard free-kick took a deflection before going in.

Gala began the second half brightly and were unlucky after Sam Prosser had crossed into the box, with the ball finding Dan Knight who shot just wide.

Philp then had another great chance for Stonehouse before the visitors managed to take the lead on 76 minutes when Liam Gale ran clear to slide the ball past Skyers.

The home side had several chances with Tom Boyle testing Pedrick in the visitors’ goal, but Stonehouse added further goals through recent signing Philp and in the last minute, Mike Ashenhurst.

Hardwicke were on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller, going down 5-3 at Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Hardwicke’s Will Higgins had the first effort on goal but his 20-yard shot went just over. Rangers’ Luke Johnson then brought keeper Chris Perks into the action on 15 minutes while Higgins also went close with a 25-yard shot.

Rangers’ Shaun Tingle had a shot cleared off the line on 25 minutes and then three minutes later the home side took the lead when Luke Brown volleyed home from the edge of the box.

Brown added a second in the 37th minute, picking up the ball in his own half and drifting past numerous Hardwicke defenders before slotting the ball home.

It became 3-0 on 60 minutes when Luke Johnson scored after being set up by Brown before Hardwicke pulled one back on 70 minutes when Kieran Bryce-Ingles’ second attempt went past keeper Underwood.

Just two minutes later Luke Brown was at it again, picking the ball up in his own half to go on another mazy run before making it 4-1.

Hardwicke got a second goal on 80 minutes when a lucky rebound fell to Lewis Grizzly to fire home. Things got a little tight for the home side on 85 minutes when Hardwicke scored again through Connor Dallimore.

Hardwicke then forced a corner with just a couple of minutes to go and keeper Chris Perks arrived in the box to support. Unfortunately for the visitors, Rangers cleared the danger and the ball was played up to Luke Johnson to score the final goal.

Second-placed Frampton United eased to a 3-1 win at home to Broadwell Amateurs.

In a game that was dominated by the home side they should have taken the lead in the eighth minute when Josh Beadle played the ball through to Adam Bloomfield but he shot wide.

Sean Lawson hit the bar on 20 minutes but two minutes later the home side went ahead through Joe Wilton.

Josh Beadle then struck the upright but on 41 minutes Broadwell drew level, when Ian Price bundled the ball into the net from a corner from their only real chance in the game.

The home side regained the lead on 73 minutes when Fraser Wilson sent Jonathan Lewis clear to score. Lewis was unlucky not to add a second in the 84th minute when his shot went just the wrong side of the upright.

Frampton made certain of victory when Liam Harper let fly from 25 yards and the ball flew into the top corner.

Other results: AEK Boco 0 Lebeq Utd 3; Little Stoke 3 Hanham Ath 0; Patchway T 1 Wick 3; Southmead CS Ath 3 Henbury 1.
