Stroud League Division One leaders Minchinhampton make quickfire start to season
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Tuesday, 16th September 2025, 10:30
Unbeaten Minchinhampton made it four wins out of five in Division One of the Stroud League with a 2-1 success at Tetbury Town on Saturday.
Goals by Luka Kennedy and Brandon Keveren – his fifth of the campaign – earned them all three points to cement their place at the top of the table.
“It’s been a brilliant start to the season,” said club secretary Dan Matthews. “New manager Martyn Lowe has brought in some good young players.”
The new faces include Lowe’s sons Cameron and Charlie, and Matthews continued: “We’ve recruited well and we had a good pre-season.”
Minchinhampton have a five-point advantage over the chasing pack with second-placed Abbeymead Rovers, who have played one game fewer than the leaders, the only side to deny them victory this season.
The two teams drew 2-2 at Abbeymead at the end of last month, Minchinhampton’s second game of the season.
The club’s three other wins have come at home to Stroud United (2-0) and Horsley United (2-1), and away to Shortwood United Reserves (1-3).
Minchinhampton finished 10th in the 14-strong division last season, winning nine and losing 17.
This season the top flight is made up of 12 teams and Minchinhampton will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to six games when they travel to fifth-placed Gala Wilton Reserves on Saturday.Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
