Brockworth Rugby Club to stage Gorilla Run in memory of Andrew ‘Ace’ Kelly

Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 20th September 2019, 13:00
Members of Brockworth Rugby Club will be dressing up as gorillas on Sunday for their annual run in honour of a club stalwart.
The Gorilla Run is in memory of Andrew ‘Ace’ Kelly, who died from cancer at the age of 57 in February 2014.
Brockworth Rugby Club members will be joined by Andrew’s family and friends for a 5k run around the village which will raise funds for Cancer Research.
Club spokesman David Alden said: “Andy had been part of Brockworth Rugby Club since the early 70s.
“He was a larger than life character loved by all. He always made time for those that needed it and always knew how to have fun.
“He lost his life battling cancer at just 57 so that's why each year we raise money for Cancer Research to remember our patriarch the ‘Silverback’ whom we sorely miss.”
The run will start and finish prior to England’s World Cup opener against Tonga (11.15am BST), a game that will be being screened at Brockworth Rugby Club. There will also be a barbecue and games at the club to celebrate the life of Andrew Kelly.
