Cheltenham Combination decision on Smiths v Stow-on-the-Wold Senior Cup final

Cheltenham Saracens will host two cup finals on Saturday

The Cheltenham Combination Senior Cup final between Smiths and Stow-on-the-Wold has been postponed.

It was due to have taken place at Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday as part of the Combination’s end-of-season cup finals day.

But Smiths have a Papa John’s Counties 2 Championship semi-final at home to Dinnington on Saturday, with a place at Twickenham in 10 days’ time the prize for the winners.

Smiths have never played at Twickenham in their 73-year history. Should they overcome the Sheffield club they will face the winners of the other semi-final between Saltash and Old Elthamians.

Meanwhile, the Cheltenham Combination’s Junior Cup and Minor Shield finals will both go ahead at Saracens on Saturday as planned with Old Patesians 2nds taking on Saracens in the Junior Cup and Old Patesians 3rds and Cheltenham North 3rds facing off in the Minor Shield.

It’s set to be a very busy Saturday for clubs from Gloucestershire because a good number are through to the last four of the Papa John’s Cup at various levels.

Selected scheduled Papa John’s Cup fixtures – Regional 1 Plate: Bracknell v Matson. Regional 2 South Plate: Drybrook v Bournemouth. Regional 2 South Shield: Cullompton v Old Centralians. Counties 1 South Shield: St Ives v Gordon League. Counties 2 South Plate: Cheltenham North v Chipstead. Counties 2 South Shield: South Molton v Stroud. Counties 3 & Below Championship: Tewkesbury v Old Otliensians.
