Lewis Ludlow's many years of outstanding service to Gloucester is set to continue.

The 31-year-old, who made his debut 10 years ago, has signed a new contract and he’s absolutely delighted.

“The club took a chance on me when I was a 17-year-old kid at Hartpury,” the former captain said.

“Two hundred and fifty games later, I still have the same desire to give back and make the fans as proud as I did on my debut.

“I’m incredibly honoured to represent the club, the city and the people who support us week in, week out.

“It’s an exciting time off the field with changes to the academy structure and other developments, and I still feel at the top of my game, so re-signing was an easy decision.”

Ludlow, who was replaced by skipper Tomos Williams as skipper this season, had been captain since November 2020, making him the club’s longest-serving captain in the professional era.

His leadership on the field and his off-field community involvement, including work with the club’s foundation, have earned him high regard from team-mates, staff and supporters.

He marked his 250th appearance against Harlequins last month by scoring a try in the bonus-point win.

Gloucester’s director of rugby, George Skivington, praised Ludlow as a “warrior-like professional” whose presence and experience remain vital for the team despite a strong back row squad.

“Luds will go down as a legend of Gloucester Rugby,” he said. “His professionalism, warrior-like mentality and the passion he brings to the club set the standard for any player.

“On the field, Luds continues to deliver when it matters, and that’s ultimately why we’ve extended his contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.

“We have some excellent options in that back row, but his experience, leadership and quality will remain invaluable beyond this season.”
