Popular Angels 10K set to attract record numbers
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 4th September 2025, 09:00
This year’s Angels 10K will be bigger and better than ever.
It takes place on Sunday 14th September and it is now open to 225 entries, 50 more than the record number received in 2024.
That race was won by CLC Striders’ Rob Green in a time of 33 minutes, 34 seconds and race director Wendy Sutton is hoping for another successful day this time around.
“Last year was the first time that we’ve sold out,” said Sutton, who is in her second year as race director.
“We’ve increased the number of entries because we had people wanting to run who weren’t able to 12 months ago.”
The 10K, which is part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, is the sporting highlight of the year for Angels Running Club.
The club were formed in 1988 and are the only affiliated all-female running club in Gloucestershire.
They meet at Plock Court every Wednesday at 6pm – the club have more than 50 members – but although they are an all-female club, the Angels 10K is very much open to men as well as women.
“We’re open to runners of all abilities,” added Sutton. “It’s a genuinely beautiful route, it’s a circular loop and is run along countryside lanes.”
The race, which is now in its 14th year, starts and finishes at Woodpeckers Cricket Club in Ashleworth the runners go off at 10am, and it enjoys great views of the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and River Severn.
Sutton, like everyone else at Angels, is looking forward to the biggest day on their racing calendar, and she said: “Yes, it is the highlight of the year for us,” before adding with a laugh, “along with our Christmas lunch!”
The deadline for entries for this year’s Angels 10K is midnight on Sunday 7th September.Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
