Gloucestershire Tennis have appointed Emma Aldred-Tow as the county’s first-ever Adapted Padel Lead – a groundbreaking role designed to champion the growth of inclusive padel across the county.

In her new role, Emma will lead the development of a countywide adapted padel programme for adults and young people with physical, sensory, cognitive and mental health disabilities.

Plans include taster days, disability-specific coaching, and inclusive social sessions – all designed to make padel accessible, welcoming and empowering for every participant.

“This is an exciting time for adapted padel in Gloucestershire,” said Emma.

“I’m proud to be part of this new chapter and looking forward to building meaningful opportunities in partnership with local disability groups so that everyone, whatever their needs, can experience the joy of padel, whether it’s their first time on court or they’re ready to go further.”

With a rich background in both able-bodied and disability sport, Emma brings a wealth of experience, passion and personal commitment to her role.

She represented Gloucestershire in junior and senior county tennis throughout her youth and into her 20s.

After acquiring a disability, Emma transitioned into wheelchair tennis, forging a highly successful competitive career that included multiple national titles.

Her lived experience across both able-bodied and disability sport gives her a rare and powerful insight into the transformative potential of inclusive sporting opportunities.

Away from the court, Emma is a dedicated mum to two boys. Sport is a shared passion in the family with husband Pete and sons Charlie and Archie enjoying a love of all sports.

The family have recently returned from Madrid where Charlie attended a high-performance padel training camp that included the junior world number one.
