Gloucester Old Boys are celebrating after being crowned Counties 3 Gloucestershire North champions.

They clinched the title with a 46-0 win at home to Ross-on-Wye at the weekend and will complete their league campaign at Chosen Hill 2nds a week on Saturday.

“It’s brilliant,” said chairman Shane Bubb. “The lads thoroughly deserve it, as do all the staff.”

It’s Gloucester Old Boys’ first title in some two decades and comes 12 months after they missed out on promotion by just a point to Stroud.

“Coach Al Bryan has a done a great job,” continued Bubb. “The players need to be playing at a higher level.”

And Bubb is confident that the club will do well in Counties 2 Gloucestershire North next season.

“We’ll be wanting to finish in the top half and maybe the top four,” he said.

“Old Patesians and Stroud who were promoted last season are both in the top four.

“We beat both of them last season, we beat Stroud home and away.”

And Gloucester Old Boys still have plenty to play for this season with the end-of-season cup competitions set to get under way.

Their flagship team will play in the North Gloucestershire Combination’s Junior Cup this season and will certainly fancy their chances and they will also be hoping to go back to Twickenham this year in the Papa John’s Community Cup Counties 3 Championship.

They have a bye in the first round of the Junior Cup while in the Papa John’s they host Southmead on Saturday 13^th April.
