Impressive Stroud Athletic Club runner Lee Stopford sets a new course record at Angels 10K

Lee Stopford won the Angels 10K with a new course record

Lee Stopford smashed his own course record on the way to winning the Angels 10K yesterday.

The Stroud and District Athletic Club runner raced round in 32 minutes, 17 seconds, beating his previous best by more than a minute.

Second-placed Charlie Worsfold also finished well inside 33 minutes, with the Western Tempo runner clocking a time of 32.39, while CLC Striders’ Max Harrison-Tosatto was third in 34.21.

Race director Wendy Sutton was delighted to see Stopford win the race in such emphatic style.

“It was a very impressive run,” she said. “He’s really, really good. It was perfect running conditions, there wasn’t any wind and it was very mild.”

Severn Athletic Club’s Alice Tredgett was the first female runner home in an excellent time of 37.58 and she was followed by Western Tempo duo Amber Bullingham and Fee Maycock in 39.23 and 41.37 respectively.

“Everybody who started the race finished,” continued Sutton. “It was a busy day but a really good one.”
