Pupils at a school in Gloucester enjoyed a special day when they could run and run for fun.

The youngsters from St James' Junior School  took part in the annual TCS mini marathon, running a distance of two miles as part of an initiative to promote health, resilience and community spirit.

St James' is an inner city school and teacher Alice Tredgett, a keen runner, said: "For many of our students, this was their first experience of a running event like this.

“It was a fantastic opportunity for them to challenge themselves, build confidence and feel a real sense of achievement."

The mini marathon took place soon after this year's London Marathon. Tredgett, a member of Severn Athletic Club, ran this year's race in two hours, 55 minutes, 30 seconds, which was a PB.
