Tewkesbury Cricket Club will be hoping to produce their Sunday best when they head to Swindon at the weekend.

It's a big day for the club because they are through to the T20 WEPL Final along with Swindon, Potterne and Midsomer Norton.

They will play Midsomer Norton, who are top of Premier 2 Bristol/Somerset, in four days’ time while Swindon and Potterne will face off in the other semi-final.

Tewkesbury won promotion to Premier 2 Glos/Wilts at the end of last season and club captain Tom Allcoat said: “Reaching the final is really big, we’ve taken the competition very seriously as we do every competition.

“We’ve got a group of players who are committed and are able to give their time.”

Tewkesbury beat Cheltenham and Hatherley and Reddings in the first round group stage before overcoming Frocester and Chipping Sodbury in the second round.

They will need their best players to fire at the weekend, of course, but Allcoat is in upbeat mood.

Overseas player Josh Richards has been getting a stack of runs at the top of the order and Allcoat said: “He’s doing very, very well, he’s a really good player.

“More importantly, he’s a really good bloke, he makes everyone raise their standards.

“James Whitmore is in good form and Josh Barnes has been scoring runs.”

The bowlers have been performing too with the likes of Matt Stevens, Alex Oliver and Tom Morris all to the fore.

“We’ve got some very good bowlers,” continued Allcoat. “We’ve got plenty of options.”

The winner of Sunday’s final will go through to the next stage of the competition which will involve clubs from around the country.

It's going to be a busy weekend for Tewkesbury because they host Hatherley and Reddings in Premier 2 Glos/Wilts on Saturday.
