Fee Maycock completes Manchester Marathon in under three hours

There can’t be too many people from this side of the Gloucestershire border who have been to Manchester for the weekend and have returned purring about the weather up north.

But that’s exactly what Fee Maycock did when she spoke to The Local Answer after competing in the Manchester Marathon on Sunday.

“The conditions were absolutely perfect,” she said. “There wasn’t a breath of wind, it was nice and cool and there was no rain.”

And 50-year-old Maycock’s run was pretty perfect too. She completed the course in two hours, 56 minutes, 49 seconds – the 10th time the Cheltenham Harrier has run a sub-three hour marathon.

“I was the 13th lady home and first in my vet 50 category,” said Maycock with understandable pride.

“I’m currently ranked the number one lady in the UK vet 50 category.”

That may or may not change on London Marathon day – Sunday 22nd April – but for now Maycock, who lives in Cheltenham, can reflect on a job very well done.

Not that she plans to be taking it lightly over the next few weeks and months.

“I’m running the Tewkesbury Half Marathon on Sunday 13th May,” she said, “and I might run the Berlin Marathon in September.”
