The City of Gloucester 10K is eagerly anticipated and it’s not difficult to see why because it offers something for everyone.

While the top runners will obviously be chasing a good time on Sunday 19th May, there will be plenty of other for whom setting a personal best or even just getting round will be some achievement.

As race organiser Norman Wilson says: “This event is for runners of all abilities whether they be charity runners, recreation runners, club runners or elite athletes.”

And those taking part are sure to enjoy it.

“The course is flat and fast and gives participants the chance to try for a personal best time while enjoying a spectacular sightseeing tour around the historic city of Gloucester,” added Wilson.

The race gets under way at 9am but that is by no means the only race on what is a big day for the city.

“We are also holding a 2K Children and Family Run at 8.30am followed by the City of Gloucester Wheelchair 10K Run at 8.55am,” said Wilson.

“And the City of Gloucester 10K Run at 9am includes the Corporate 10K Team Business Challenge.”

The 2K event will see children of all ages running with their mums, dads, uncles, aunties and grandparents.

“It’s not just a race for children,” explained Wilson, “it’s for anyone who wants to take part in the event day but perhaps isn’t quite ready for a 10K race.

“The 2K race is there for those who want to get involved and all those who register and take part will receive a finisher’s medal.”

And that’s not all because the first three individual boys and girls in the under-11, under-13 and under-15 age groups will receive a special plaque.

The Corporate 10K Team Business Challenge, meanwhile, provides a chance to bring work colleagues together for team building and strengthening friendships as well as encouraging a little competitive spirit.

“We hope to see lots of corporate teams participating in the first running of the event,” said Wilson.

“There will be a trophy for the winning team with three to score by the lowest aggregate time.”

Teams of four runners are invited. The cost per corporate team is £100 plus a small admin fee.
