Painswick A turn up the power as they look to win promotion to Premier Division of the Gloucestershire Summer Men’s League

Painswick A host Frampton A in a Division 1B clash in the Gloucestershire Summer Men’s League on Friday
Painswick A are in confident mood as they seek a quick return to the Premier Division of the Gloucestershire Summer Men’s League.
With four games remaining, they lead the way in Division 1B and are unbeaten after eight games, having won six and drawn two.
Their most recent success came at home to Minchinhampton B this week – they won 4-0 – and their form is delighting club president Nigel Barnett.
“It’s looking good,” he said. “The Premier Division is really, really strong. East Glos have got four of the seven teams in the division, the challenge is to stay there if we win promotion.”
Barnett’s son James is one of regulars in the A team alongside Jamie Morrow, Charlie Titmuss, Henry Scott, Dan Chivers and Andy Harris.
Harris is the captain and Barnett said: “He’s doing a very good job, we’re looking to bounce back straight away.”
Painswick’s next game is at home to Frampton A on Friday 19th June.
Nigel Barnett plays for the club’s D team these days and he said: “We’ve got five teams competing in the men’s league, the D team will win Division 6B.
“The E team are new but they are doing really well.”
Barnett also plays in the Gloucestershire Winter League alongside his youngest daughter Sophie, and he partners another daughter, Jessica, in the Stroud Winter League.
Painswick has six courts, two of which are artificial clay courts, and it also has four pickleball courts.
