AreasSportArchive The countdown begins to this year's Santa Fun Run in GloucesterAuthor: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 31st October 2025, 09:00 The clocks have gone back and Halloween will be done and dusted for another year after tonight, which means that the countdown to Christmas can truly begin.
And as always, one of the first people on the starting grid is Matt Cass, the driving force behind the ever-popular annual Santa Fun Run in Gloucester.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday 13th December and Cass said: “We had over 650 Santas last year and other festive fancy dress running through the city, and we helped raise over £6,000 for local charities.
“We already have several hundred signed up this year but I would like to fill Kings Square with Santas and other festive costumes.”
The Santa Fun Run is for everyone, anybody can take part.
Entrants can walk, jog or run 5K or 1K – it’s not a race – with all the money raised from the event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Gloucester, going to community projects.
Registration for this year’s fun run opens at 9.30am, ahead of a 10.30am start.
The Santa Fun Run was held for the first time back in Gloucester in 2017 when 50 people took part.
