Two players from Gloucestershire will appear in the first ever European walking football tournament.

Rob Pass and John Hammonds will take part in the competition, organised by the Walking Football Association, at the Proact Stadium, home of Chesterfield Football Club, on Sunday 9th June.

Both Pass and Hammonds play for Stroud Walking Football Club, although they also play occasionally for Abbeymead Rovers.

Pass, a defender, will be playing in the over-50s competition, while Hammonds, a goalkeeper, will feature in the over-60s team.

The over-60s are managed by Stuart Langworthy, who has done so much for Abbeymead Rovers over the years and these days is a big supporter of walking football.

England, Italy and Wales will compete in the over-50s competition and those three countries plus Gibraltar will compete in the over-60s competition.

A walking football World Cup is scheduled to take place next year.
